Jake and Alexis Broen
Alexis was born in Michigan, but moved to Sarasota 25 years ago leaving only to attend college at UF. Jake grew up in Sebring, Florida and attended FSU before moving to Sarasota where he and Alexis met 11 years ago (through mutual friends at Libby's Ladies Night). Jake enjoys offshore fishing, golf, and college football. Alexis is an avid reader, interior design enthusiast and is on the leaderboard for the most miles walked around Palmer Reserve! They have two wonderful children Mae (5) and Ellis (2) and an energetic Goldendoodle, Olive (8). Together they own several businesses in the landscape industry including Arbor Landscapes (landscape design), Arbor Illuminations (landscape lighting), and Irrigation Supply SRQ (retail store). They are also involved in the Greater Sertoma Club of Sarasota and The Junior League of Sarasota. They love the area because there is so much to do close to home and enjoy exploring the Celery Fields or Rothenbach Park. They also appreciate traveling, boating, spending time in the pool, days at the beach, Selby Gardens or Mote Marine as a family.
February Home Maintenance
February is a great time to check off some of those forgotten 'to-do' tasks around the house. The new year is"looking up"
- Dust fans and AC Vents - Swifter Duster Extenders are great for this and make it an easy task
- Take down and clean bath vents
- Clean Gutters - this helps to protect your fascia and roof
- Change burned out lightbulbs - look into LED to save on your electric bill
- Wash or dry clean your curtains - the rod is a place that collects dust, but is hard to see

Homestead Exemption
If you purchased your home in 2023, and it is your primary residence, don't forget to file for homestead exemption. The deadline is March 1st. Not only does this provide an exemption on your taxable value (reducing the amount of taxes you pay), but it also caps the amount that they can increase. To file for homestead exemption you can go in person to Sarasota County Property Appraiser (appointment recommended 941-861-8200) to 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota, FL 34237 or online at https://www.sc-pa.com/exemptions/homestead/overview/

Biography
Already at home in the real estate industry, Angela is continuing her tenure at Michael Saunders and Company, where she previously worked as executive assistant to President Drayton Saunders. With a passion for helping others accomplish their goals, Angela is delighted to be working at the Main Street office, combining her intrinsic knowledge of the region with her professional, customer-oriented approach. Specializing in Sarasota, Angela is known for her dependability and excellent communication, working to educate buyers and sellers on the real estate process and always keeping them informed.
With extensive behind-the-scenes experience at Michael Saunders and Company, Angela has a unique understanding of all facets of the business. She initially joined the company in 2002 as part of the accounting division and later worked with MSC Title before transitioning to her corporate role assisting Drayton in managing the various company divisions as well as overseeing the MSC Foundation.
Also experienced in marketing, Angela spent five years in the industry serving over 1,200 clients in the design, sales, and customer service. Her well-rounded foundation in business, accounting, and marketing makes her an invaluable resource for helping customers navigate the Sarasota real estate market and achieve their real estate goals.
Originally from New Hampshire, Angela has lived in Sarasota for over 25 years. When she is not working, you can find her walking at Celery Fields or spending time with her family boating and fishing. Her husband, Jimmy, owns Sarasota Boat Coach and together they have two sons, Vincent and Alexander.
